Roosevelt Club October Release – Wines from Australia & New Zealand

Gorgeous Grenache Blanc, South Australia, AU

Retail: $52| Club Price: $45| 6 Bottle Price: $257

100% Grenache Blanc, sourced from Riverland plantings. The good folks at Thistledown believe that Grenache is Australia’s signature grape variety and they’re slightly obsessed with it. This is a grape that has been much maligned by the Australian industry over the years. For too long it was mass produced, and only recently are winemakers trying to give it the caring attention that it deserves. Winemaking followed an oxidative approach ahead of a wild ferment in both concrete egg and seasoned French oak. No malolactic fermentation was allowed, with four months on lees building palate weight and structure before bottling.

Ned Pinot Gris, Marlborough, NZ

Retail: $55| Club Price: $48| 6 Bottle Price: $274

100% Pinot Gris. A portion of these grapes, which are naturally pink in color, underwent a period of skin contact to enhance color and texture in the juice. The fruit was then gently pressed to stainless steel tanks for fermentation. Born of the Waihopai Valley, The Ned represents the vibrant diversity that is so prevalent in the Marlborough wine-growing region. One of Marlborough’s famous peaks, The Ned mountain served as the playground for Marisco founder, Brent Marris, during his youth. The ethos “Young At Heart” encapsulates this wine; a true expression of grassroots winemaking that places the liveliness of adventure in every bottle.

RieslingFreak 2025 Riesling No. 55, Clare Valley, AU

100% Riesling! No.55 is a collaboration from their growers in the Clare Valley, combining distinct subregional characters to create an off dry, fruit-driven style of Riesling. Sourced from vineyards that traverse the length of the Clare Valley. No.55 is harvested early in the season, to provide a wine that is higher in natural acidity to balance the residual sugar inherent to the style. Rieslingfreak is indeed ‘a freak’, not simply because of its rarity as an Australian winemaker focused on a single variety. But also for the unconcealed passion for Riesling matched with a sensitivity to the versality of the variety and the influence of a diverse vineyard landscape.
